Fairness and impartiality toward all parties concerned, based on the principles of even-handed dealing. However, equity and equality are not synonymous, whereas equality means parity and equivalent measures of commonly share proportions of something. Equity may call for unequal measures and shares of something, corresponding to disproportionate needs to achieve fairness of opportunity or distribution.
